DATE OF ENTRY ON ILR APPLICATION

Post by ajani » Mon Mar 24, 2008 3:47 pm

I hope someone can help with my query. I have an appointment Booked on April 1 2008 at the Glasgow PEO office. I am in the UK on HSMP. I am however confused about the actual qualifying period because of the contrasting dates on my HSMP approval letter and stamp on my passport following HSMP approval. I post the relevant dates below.

Entered UK on 19th August 2001 on Student visa.
Completed Masters degree in March 2003.
Applied and granted HSMP on 28th April 203.

The confusion arose because on my HSMP approval letter dated 28th April 2003, it is stated that leave to remain granted for twelve months. My Passport was therefore endorsed with a year extension valid until 28th April 2004.

However this extension approval was dated 6th May 2003 as shown on the homeoffice stamp on my passport.

What is the correct date of HSMP approval, is it 28th April 2003 or 6th May 2003.

If you have a letter granting LTR dated 28th April 2003, and the passport endorsement states LTR granted until 28th April 2004, that's it. There is no confusion.
The 6th May stamp merely indicates the date when the endorsement was put in your passport, not the date the decision was made. After the caseworker made the decision, the file was probably passed to clerical workers to endorse the passport and post it and all the papers to you. The delay of nearly a week may be accounted for by the intervention of a weekend and also a public holiday.
