Dependent on Work Permit

I have got a work permit to UK and received papers from employer. Now I should proceed to apply for visa. I am going on a genuine Job offer from a UK company.

When I apply for entry clearance (VISA at Chennai office) can I include my wife also for VISA? Are there any disadvantages in including her?
