457 partnership visa -> obligations of spouse

Does anybody know the obligations of an dependent partner of an 457-holder? I could not find anything in the 457 booklet.

My situation: I came to Melbourne as dependent de-facto partner of an 457-holder. No I want to study in Sydney what means that I would NOT stay together with my partner in Melbourne.

Is there an obligation that I have to live together with my partner? If not I would not have to apply for a student visa.
