Home Office database and SAR report - Missing Information???

Post by chaz8790 » Sat Apr 19, 2008 7:10 pm

My brother I arrived in Uk in 1993 under our parent's work permit visa and got ILR in 1997 when they got theirs. My brother and I recently ( separately ) applied to view what information the Home office held on us . The information I recived appeared to stop in 1996 before I got my ILR. Therefore there appears to be no record on their files of my ILR.

My brother received copies of letters and applications made including a copy of the letter the HO send when ILR was granted and also some computer screen dumps giving details of some of his movements in and out of the country. In addition there were copies of landing cards.

Does anyone know:
Why I did not get the same information and how can I get a file as comprehensive as my brother's?
Does the home office keep a record of all entries via landing cards on their computer system?
Does the HO use one central computer database?
When I need to transfer the ILR on to my third passport can I use the second passort which has a stamp as I have lost the first one with the original ILR and also the letter which I received when the ILR was granted.?

I want to apply for naturalisation and i thought that it would be a good idea to get as much information as I can. The information which they provided has made me a bit concerned.

Whilst I don't have any specific answers to your questions, all I can say is you haven't got anything to worry about as you already have an ILR. I don't see any reason why your british passport application would be rejected considering you have held ILR for so many years.
