Reissue of Schengen Visa for Spain at Manchester Consulate

Hi all,

Just joined but have lurked for a while and some great info on here.

I'm married to a Zambian who has UK residency here. Last year we got a schengen visa to visit spain from the consulate in manchester and were told that if we wanted to got to spain again after the visa ran out, we could enquire by fax then send everything in by post and it would be fine.

Well we have come to do this, but I though I'd email them first - only to be told to book an appointment! This is a right pain in the mule as the first one is 16th June and we have provisionally booked the ferry to santander for the 25th of June.

Has anybody had to get a repeat visa from there and did they suceed to do it by post? or any other advice - 9 days from appt to sailing is too close for comfort.
