Tier2 (general) visa and Period of grant of leave

Dear moderator,

I am going to apply for T2 VISA from home country and received required COS from sponsor. The COS mention the contract start date as 1st August 2018 and end date as 31st July 2022 (i.e. for 4 years).
My question is which visa application category should I chose
1. VISA upto 3 years or
2. VISA upto 5 years

As the cost of applying for up to 5 years is much higher than 3 years I am thinking of choosing 3 years category. Is there any need to chose up to 5 years category? If I am choosing 3 years, what would be my period of grant of leave?

Please correct me if I am doing some thing nonsense.

you should choose VISA upto 5 years, as you works for 4 years. I don't know what will happen if you choose 3 years. Likely you will only granted 3 years VISA. and you need to renew VUSA when your contract have 1 year remain.
