Tier 2(G) to ILR Advice Needed time in Isle of man

Post by lucywilson » Sat Jul 14, 2018 10:59 pm

Hi, I'm not sure which thread I should write under so hoping this is the right one or the one most suitable..
I was granted a Tier 2 visa to work in the Isle of Man for a year and then subsequently moved to the UK and applied for a tier 2 visa here in the UK. I have been on a tier 2 since. I understand the maximum number of years one can be on a tier 2 is 6.
a) Is this correct and
b) Does the Tier 2 year granted in the Isle of Man count as well in this 6 years, given it is not part of the UK?

I'd be really grateful for a reply as soon as possible please if someone is able to help and knows the answer as I am faced with a decision as to whether to apply for a further Tier 2 (if 5 years and Isle of Man year not counted), or attempt to apply through the Indefinite Leave to remain route (the latter which may not be possible as I may not fulfill criteria by way of how absences outside the UK are counted)

Thank you
