between qualifying period for ilr and leave expiry same day service

Hi,

My wife needs to apply for her ILR (5 year family route)
Date of 5 years completion: 5-AUG-18 (date entered 1st time in the UK: 5-AUG-13).

Her visa expires on 1st Dec. 18

My question is, if we want go through the same day service route, can we apply anytime between

05-aug-18 and 28 days before 1st Dec. 18 or does it have to be only before:
28 days before 05-AUG-18?

28 days before 5th August is the EARLIEST day you can apply but you can apply any day after that
