Document receipt not acknowledged

Post by ThoJohWil » Mon Aug 27, 2018 7:05 pm

Dear All,

I thought I once more take the liberty to get in touch and ask if you could please be so kind and help me out.

I've submitted my Application AN (to be naturalised as British Citizen) and received the letter inviting me to do the Biometric Enrolment.

In the letter the HO also acknowledge to have received 17 !!!! documnets (8 of which they state are Supporting Documents).

The problem, however, is that the parcel I sent them (via UPS) weighed 3.5 kilogram and contained hundreds of pages of supporting documents (in particular regarding Employment History+Income, Student Status/Language Requirements and loads of letters, documents, etc. regarding Proof of Address).

In your opinion, given that the HO have acknowledged receipt of only 17 documents whilst I sent 3.5 kg, does this mean they have lost my originals and should I get in touch with them about this?

My case is made worse by the fact I can't really have any delays with my application (I am German and unless my British Citizenship is decided in time for me to become British before Brexit-Day in March '19 I will not be able to proceed as it will mean that I'll lose my German Nationality).

Thank you very much for your time, help and support

Why did you submit 3.5 KG of documents? Presumably the 17 they have acknowledged is all they need.
Every application is different, but in my case I only submitted eight documents if I remember correctly, and no issue at all.
They will likely return all your documents when your application is decided / approved.
This is just my opinion as a member of this forum and does not constitute immigration advice.
Please do not send me private messages asking for advice.

I had a BC application rejected on what I now know was false grounds. However I intially believed the HO caseworkers rejection letter was correct and let things ride for over a year. I then realised that there would be an issue with dual nationality and decided to reapply.

I consulted with two immigration solicitors prior to submitting my new application. In both instances they indicated that they would submit an application ‘weighing kilos’. In the end after consulting my MP (who wrote to and received a reply from the HO) I have submitted an application via the Checking Service. I took masses of documents concerning addresses in UK and work history etc, but they, after contacting the Home Office, only copied a selection and then from the last three years plus my current passport and one old passport.

I am now on tenterhooks to see if this was the right approach and if my application will now be processed in a timely manner. Whether more documents is better, or just those that are absolutely necessary is a question to which I await an answer.

Just adding to my post above, I received yesterday my approval letter. application made on 10/07/18. So hopefully ThoJohWill your acknowledgement of just 17 Docs is not a bad thing. Best of luck
