American married to Brit in US, work in the UK ?

Post by JamJuice » Thu May 15, 2008 9:11 pm

Hi there, This is my first posting here.

I'm a UK citizen who's been working in the US for the last few years. I'm in a relationship with an American girl and we're getting married here in the states.

My question is: we're planning on spending a year in London starting in September of this year and I wanted to know where she stands with regards to a working in the UK? Would she be able to work there in Sep if we were married in the US before Sep? Does she need a work permit and is there time to get one before the trip?

Many Thanks !

She would have to apply for a spousal visa before going to the UK. It is valid for 2 years and she can work while on a spousal visa.

Have a look on www.britainusa.com
