divorce before 2 years visa end.

Post by 2123 » Fri May 23, 2008 1:00 pm

Hi all,

Just a quick question. Anyone has information what happen if, a non european with a 2 year spouse visa separated before that 2 year ends? The next visa should be an extention before it can be permanent. Is there a possibility the visa can be extended at all without the partner signature and passport?

Thank you

No, unless the spouse is a victim of domestic violence or exercising rights of access to a child resident in the United Kingdom.

It is a domestic violence but its more verbal than physical. There are bruises and such but never got reported. There are witnesses and proof on texts for the verbal abuse. Staying in the country is not the main concern but the legal issues related a separation of the marriage. Such as, what is going to happen with the non resident regarding the divorce papers and process if they are not in the country? Anybody know how long a divorce process normally take place?

Thanks
