Entry clearance for work permit;student visa

Post by odile » Mon May 26, 2008 9:30 am

Hello,
I was living in the Uk with on a student visa which expires in october 2008 and have found a job as a theatre nurse. The home office has issued me a work permit for 5 years and I was ask by the hospital's lawyer to go back to my country to apply for entry clearance because of my status of student ,what I did but at the embassy I was asked to cancel first my student visa in order to have the entry clearance for work permit. After contacting the home office and the lawyer ,i found out that It wasn,t the truth so I applied for the entry clearance . I was interviewed for almost 2 hours and was asked If I had ever worked full time and I lied saying no.At the moment I am studing english and computing in a college in london and have taken some weeks holidays in order to sort things out.But now i am really worried about it,my questions are:
1/ I worked sometimes full time would that affect my application?
2/In case I am deny the entry clearance can I go back to the uk because I still have my student visa or should i go back early.
3/How long the application process usually takes?
Thanks

I applied for entry clearance in cameroon and the immmigration officer told me that it can take up to 6 weeks but i am afraid in case the refuse the entry clearance to not be able to reenter the uk because of the amount of time spent outside.
I have forgotten to mention that I was ask to do a new passport which is at the embassy with my appplication and I got with me the old one with my visa .i would like to come back this week end.
Will i still be able to apply later for a student visa, I would like to do a postgraduate course.
