British Citizenship reapplication Life Skills required documents?

Post by Phil2020 » Wed Oct 31, 2018 8:30 pm

Hi,

I am reapplying for British Citizenship after my first application in 2016 was rejected due to the "good character not satisfied" reasons. There was a time restriction when I should reapply and that time has been passed now and I'm free to reapply.

Have the Life in the UK Skills (B1 Speaking and Listening) certificate which I passed the test in 23/APR/2016.

My question is; in relation to my reapplication for British Citizenship is my certificate still valid or I need a fresh knew certificate?

My second question is when making the application online would I still be able to retain my travel document passport or I need to handover the passport until my application is processed?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The B1 certificate is valid for two years, unless you used it for ILR from a certain date onwards which doesn't appear to be the case. So you will have to book another test.

My second question is when making the application online would I still be able to retain my travel document passport or I need to handover the passport until my application is processed? When using online you will have to make an appointment with NDRS who will take copies of your documents and return the originals, so yes you can retain the originals.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
Would you please specify what was the good character criteria you could not satisfied?
Please elobrate, this will eventually help other applicants as well.

Had one minor non-custodial conviction of possession of a prohibited item, the item was a tiny pepper spray. Technically under the Home Office guidelines for good character, it's stated that a single minor non-custodial offense will be overlooked. But apparently, the Home Office was having none of that and they rejected my application.

But they also told me that I would have a better chance of succeeding if I reapplied again after 3 months of the rejection letter. Have to do it all over again, its a lot of money for me but I might win the British Nationality lottery this time.
