I am WP holder. I resigned from my previous job 5 months ago now. I takes me morethan a month to get a new one but since my new employer send my application in HO for my new work permit we haven't heard from them yet. While waiting for it my employment is continous with them though they told me they're worried that they might employing me illegally right now.

What is my status now in UK and do you think my new employer is in trouble?

You are an overstayer, you should have either found a new role or left within 28 days.

You new employer shouldn't be employing you with having the work permit approved.

Sounds like both parties are in a pickle here.
