Unmarried partner visa

Post by BDLmybrotha » Tue Nov 13, 2018 10:56 am

Hey guys...after a bit of advice!

Myself and my partner have applied for a UK unmarried partner visa. We’ve been informed that a decision has been made on our visa and that my partner has to return to the VFS office to hand her passport in so it can be sent away to Manila. My query is, if it has been rejected would they still request her passport to be handed in or would they not just simply send us an email explaining that it’s been rejected? From what I’ve read online if an application is rejected the applicant is informed via email.

I don't think anyone will be able to answer this with certainty. I am currently in a similar situation on a spouse visa. Decision made and the passport was handed back in last Friday, we're now waiting to find out if it was successful or not. Apparently it can take around 5 working days so hopefully not too much longer. From what I have found online I am of the same opinion as you, that they likely wouldn't request the passport back on a decline, instead just informing by letter/email. However, I can't find anything definitive, even after a lot of searching, so am currently going through a nerve wracking couple of days. Wishing you good luck on your decision anyway!

Hey Ozmo...yeh it’s a pretty nerve racking time. The only thing we can think of as to why they would request it back if it’s rejected is to put some kind of stamp/sticker in my partners passport...other than that it seems like a total waste of time sending it in potentially for no reason at all...fingers crossed you get the decision you want as well

Does anybody else have experience of this situation?
