Query regarding period of claim

Hi
I am in UK for an assignment since nov 2007, Till Apr 2008 i was getting Indian salary and Uk allowance, Now from April the company had stooped the allowance and started giving the UK saalry in advance, So in month of april I got UK allowance + indian salary and UK salary of MAY(credited on 28th april) and on 28th may 2008 I got salary for June
the confusion is that the Uk payslip is not showing any month, The tax date on payslip is showing as tha date salary credited.
My question is
1) For June maonth salary credited on 28th may shall I show this income for month of may or for of June.
2 For which date shall I take the exchange rate, because june month is still going on. I am trying to apply asap.
