New Fees

Hi All, I came across this whilst trawling through the Parliament website:

If you look at point 15 it is basically the approval of the new application fees

I was hoping there would be a great debate about them and that they would change them after June(thats when i can apply for Indefinate Leave to Remain! oh well......)

The £315 for HSMP applications is really expensive if you are from the third world

That amount of money is equivalent to 2 months wages!!!

On top of that once succesful you have to apply for a Visa £75 per applicant!!!

The revised fees do definately favour people from the Developed world and the HSMP scheme fee increases do not favour candidates from Africa, Latin America and some parts of Asia

Chess I totally agree. I think just as the salary needed for get points under HSMP Scheme varies from country to country, so should the application fee!

I am going to a LibDem conference here in Birmingham on this coming Saturday. Mark Oaten, Home Office spokesperson, will also be there. If I have a chance I raise raise the matter with him.

Chess, thats quite an interesting link, looks like work permit holders will be able to apply in person for an extension for limited leave to remain similar to the indefinite leave to remain setup (for £500 though!)

Interesting to note though, this is for LTR applications relating to WP holders and HSMP individuals and not for indefinite Leave to Remain applicants. (Perhaps they will go up at a later date, or there is a seperate press release for them?)

Nice link, but as it says in that document :-

From 1 April 2005 holders of Immigration Employment Documents (IEDs), with the exception of HSMP, will be able to apply for Leave to Remain by booking an appointment at Croydon Public Enquiry Office.

The emphasis is theirs.
