Lost passport with ILR stamp

Post by jmgm106 » Sun Dec 23, 2018 3:26 pm

I wasn't sure where to put this. I am applying for naturalization. I have everything I need except my Indefinite Leave To Remain stamp.

Backstory

I lost my passport with the stamp in many years ago. I replaced said passport but the new passport did not have the stamp in it since the stamp was being replaced by biometric residence permit.

I was told by my mother who handled all of this at the time that the evidence of my ILR was my passport and any other evidence was sent to the homeoffice when I was 16 and never returned.

I have photocopies of my previous passport with the stamp in it but I doubt that a photocopy will be sufficient evidence. Isn't there a database somewhere with my name in it? Is the only evidence that I'm allowed to be here in this lost passport?

What do I do? Whether I attempt to get my BRP or Naturalization I need evidence of my status but as I've said I have no such evidence, just a photocopy of that evidence. What do I do? I really want to get my applications in before Brexit because who knows what will happen after then.

Thanks,
John

How many years ago did you get the ILR? Why did you have to send your documents to the Home Office? Do you or your mother have any correspondence including reference numbers relating to your case? You may be able to apply for a "Subject Access Request" - see https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... mmigration. Not sure how long the Home Office retains records and documents but it's known they have destroyed potentially useful records in the past.
