EEA PR - no email confirmation?

Hi everyone,
my Polish girlfriend applied for EEA PR, online, on Nov 5. Documents arrived at HO on Nov 6.
Payment was taken on Nov 5 and alongside she received a 'Payment confirmation' email with a 'application reference number' in it.
She never got any other separate 'application confirmation' email. Is that normal? I was reading on the timeline thread and everyone seems to have received the email confirmation.
Can you kindly advise?

Receipt of emails can be variable - however the payment confirmation with a reference number is really confirming that the application has entered UKVI systems.
