Incorrect entry in HMRC record

Post by MissionPossible » Tue Jan 22, 2019 6:46 pm

Hi Gurus,

Background: I'm on Tier 2 General on Shortage Occupation for last 5 year 4 months.
I'll be applying for ILR under Super Priority service next month but I noticed that in HMRC records there is an entry for another employer with £0 INCOME.
Now, this happened in 2016 when I was incorrectly added as PAYE by a university where I delivered a voluntary session ( I was sent there by Tier 2 Sponsor for the session). Once the error was identified I was removed from PAYE. But strangely that university shows in HMRC records for 2016-2017 as one of the employer for that year.

Doubt: Will this extra employer ( although with no income) affect my ILR application ?
Do I need to provide a letter by concerned university detailing the ERROR as part of my application or should wait for HO to get back seeking info on this to avoid causing any unnecessary info?

Please suggest

I understand the query is a bit tricky and I'll rephrase it to below:

" When applying ILR via Tier 2 General route, can/does the case workers/HO usually object if they see an additional employment (with £o income) along with usual sponsored employment.

If yes - should I clarify this in covering letter ? Or, the best approach here is to ignore this as this might create unnecessary confussion and wait for HO to get back asking info if they need so"

I also have 0 amount records in my HMRC tax records according to my online tax account. But those was due to mistake from the accountant when he mistakenly reported salary two times in a month to HMRC. But later after I notified them, they updated HMRC and that entry was changed to "0".

So it looks like there was probably an amendment from university after some mistake.

If it was volunteer work then why did you provide university with your NI number?

I also do some vounteer research work for university, but I have letter from university that I won't be paid any salary other than any disbursement of expenses. Might be ask for a letter from university confirming your volunteer work without salary and provide to UKVI if they ask.

But wait for experienced members for advice as well.

As part of my ILR application - I added a letter by concerned University mentioning the exact situation and that P45 was generated in Error and corrected in same financial year. Also, it confirmed that at no point I was an employee at University and thereby not liable for any payment for the session that I attended on behalf of my sponsor employee. I did not attach any cover letter whatsoever.

I have just received email from UKVI confirming successful ILR app and now just waiting for BRP !
