US Citizen Married to Dutch Citizen - Moving to NL?

Hi there,

I'm a US Citizen living as a Permanent Resident in New Zealand, my wife is a Dutch Citizen also living as a Permanent Resident in New Zealand. If we wanted to move and settle in The Netherlands, what would we need to do?

Would I automatically fall under the EEA Family Category?
Would this extend to all of the EU countries that recognize the EEA Family Category?

If you're moving to the country of your spouse, then you would need to follow national legislation/immigration rules, not European rules.

You only use the EEA category (or European Directive) when moving to another EU/EEA country of which your spouse is not a citizen, or if, after having lived in another EU/EEA country, you wished to move back to NL using the European directive.

So if we move to any other EU country, is it as simple as showing up together and then applying for residency once in the country?
