Long residence in the UK

Post by kreator » Thu Jun 12, 2008 10:45 pm

I am in very difficult situation as i can not find a solution to my problem. I came to the Uk in january 1999 as a asylum seeker. After six years i have been refused asylum with right to apeal against the decission but i decided not to apeal as i have been granted limited leave to remain in the Uk on the basis of my relationship with my partner who is EEA national and have been granted Residence permit for 2 years. After 2 years i have been given a Residence documentation as a family member of EEA national for furder 5 years.I would like to know if i have right to apply for settlement in the UK on the basis of long residence in the UK because i have separated from my partner and by the immigration rules i have to leave the country.I have been working for 9 and a half years and i would like to continue my life but unfortunetly it looks like that i will have to leave.I have spoken with number of immigration advisers, but all of them have given me a different answers. Some of them said that i have no right to apply because in those 10 years i have made a break in long residence and after asylum have been given limited leave to remain but in different category and first 6 years of temporary admission would not count toward long residence. Some of them said that i have right to apply and now i am very confused, please help!!!Thank you!!!!
