-***- ENTRY CLEARENCE issue -PASSPORT ADDRESS mismatch -***-

Post by hsmphsmp » Thu Oct 11, 2007 2:05 pm

I have an issue for applying EC. I have HSMP approval. I plan to apply for EC for me and my wife as dependent. The problem is the permenant address in my passport mentioned is different from what is mentioned in my wife passport. Also neither of the address mentioned in mine or my wife is actually the permenant address, both of the address are actaully are rented house addresses, we no longer stay there. Given this scenario what is possible?

1. Can I mention permenant address as menitoned in my passport for both myself and my wife. I need to make to application one for me and oen for my wife.
2. Can I mention a new permanent address (which is actually now the real permenant address, my father's address as he bough a new house) for myself and my wife in the visa application form?

Have any one succeded in getting visa by mentioning a permenant address in visa application other than what is mentioned in the passport?

Thank you in advance.

Give your genuine permanent address. If you can't change the addresses in the passports, just explain that you have moved.

I wouldn't worry about. Given that passports generally tend to have 10 year life spans, I don't think any entry clearance officer would give it a second thought if the address stated in your passport was not your current address.
In a few years time we'll look back on immigration control like we look back on American prohibition in the thirties - futile and counter-productive.

Hi VictoriaS,
Thank you for the reply. Is there any chance of refusal if the passport address is not updated to the actual one? Will british embassy so much concerend about the permenant address mentioned in the passport? Or they care only about the corrspondence address? I could not change address in my passport as I dont have any document for proof of address

Thank You

See Dawie's post above to answer your question!

I didn't know that passports do have peoples addresses. I thought it was just the application that holds such personal stats. May be just may be, it is just me!

Stop worrying, it's not a problem.

Thank you all for clarfications. So I am planning to apply EC with a permenant address (the genuine one, my fathers permenant home) which is neither mention in my passport nor my wife's passport. Will let know once it gets approved.

Hi hsmphsmp,

Did you get the entry clearance with the address in your passport different from the one in your application?

I am planning to apply for Tier 1 soon and have the same case.
The address in my passport is Delhi's, where I no longer live, and I am planning to apply from Bangalore.

I feel this should not be an issue as others mentioned, but just wanted to confirm.
