Need advice please dependant visa

Hello
I came alone to UK on a tier 2 visa with a certificate of sponsorship that states that the sponsor will maintain me and my dependents .Now I have my BRP card with the sponsorship number on it but the original certificate (the paper itself) is expired it was only for 3 months.
Can I get my dependents with my BRP card only as it has the certificate of sponsorship number on it or should I have a letter from the sponsor stating that they will maintain my dependents.
