EEA student with PR needs insurance?

Post by sharpo » Mon Mar 25, 2019 12:13 am

I am applying for a Family Permit as the unmarried partner of an EEA national. My partner is a student in the UK with a Document Certifying Permanent Residence.

Does she need health insurance even if she has a DCPR? Do I need health insurance too?

According to https://www.gov.uk/family-permit/docume ... st-provide, either my partner has to prove she has a permanent right of residence or that she's a QP but we are not sure about the insurance. "You must show that your EEA family member has a permanent right of residence or is one of the following if they’ve been in the UK for more than 3 months"

I believe once you have PR you don't need the insurance anymore.

If the EEA Citizen has acquired PR, then s/he does not require CSI/personal health insurance.

Be aware that your right to reside as the unmarried partner of an EEA citizen only starts from the date the Residence Card is issued to you by the Home Office.
