Original Docs.for British Passport

Can someone please confirm if the parents Original British passport and naturalisation certificate are necessary for a child's first British passport being applied for in India?
I have received conflicting information. Some say a certified copy of nat. cert and all pages of the passport are accepted. The web site says originals are required and "we do not accept, unless stated certified copies"

It's true. They asked for the original. But you can bring your original to the local office, they will check the original and copy and return it to you.
