14 year Residency

Post by raina » Thu Jun 19, 2008 5:38 pm

Has anyone applied for the 14 year long residency succesfully?

Please do share your experiences.

Also will there ever be a one off general amnesty for all illegals living here in UK (like Spain and Italy)

What do ppl think about this?

amnesty!!!!!!!!!!!i doubt it mate, even the mention of it the concervative party, and others start barking like dogs

i read in other forum this 14 years option will be cancelled , so people wait 14 years from their lives for nothing :(

currently this 14 years is not guaranteed, it is a long process and they refuse at the end

Ricky- Yes you are right about amnesty. But the issue has been discussed openly in the papers since the last two years.
Of course even the Mayors were in favour of it and one knows its a good move politically and once elected no one bothers.

But am hoping to hear from someone who has applied.....

Very few 14 year long residency applications get through. The big problem is the lack of evidence to support the period of stay. There is an expectation that you can provide a document per month of stay - preferably something like rent payment books, utility bills, NHS card, bank statements, pay slips etc. Things that can be checked are good, things from official places such as DVLA and HRMC are even better.

Most people just do not have that range of doc's over that period of time. The caseworkers will accept a three month gap in doc's without a much of a problem, more than a 6 month gap then you are more than likely to get a refusal. The more doc's from the early period of stay the better, the first three years especially. Again this is where most people fall down.

The other reason people fail is because they “addâ€
