I am in this same situation. It seems that in the UK a marriage certificate is a legal name change document while in the US it is not. My US marriage certificate will list both my maiden name (which is also my passport name) as well as my "declared name" (which would be my married name if I elected to legally change it) and while I have every intention of changing from my maiden name to my married name, it will likely not be for many months after my wedding.
My question is this - would it be helpful or even necessary to clarify in my visa application somewhere that my name legally remains as it is on my passport and the "declared name" on my marriage certificate is reserving my right to change my name in the future?
