What is the difference between Passport Application on hold and Examination

Post by leedub77 » Mon Apr 22, 2019 10:31 am

We are applying form oversea's for my sons passport. He was born outside of the UK. we received a letter from HMPO informing us that the application for our sons passport would be on hold until we could provide certain documents.

We have now provided the documents needed but have not heard anything from HMPO. However we applied for an online status update and received a message stating that the application is currently going through the examination process.

Does this now mean the application is no longer on hold? and it is back to being processed?

I don't think there is an official definition available but logically it means it is being processed, i.e. a caseworker is looking at it.
