Travelling to the UK with 2 work permits

Post by oneway » Wed Jun 25, 2008 12:05 pm

Hi,

I was granted an HSMP for 2 years and it expires end of september 2008. Since March of this year I have moved to Norway and now work there on a 3 year work permit.

I now want to visit the UK for a week. Will I be refused entry because of my Norwegian work permit? My HSMP is still valid and there are no appointment dates available for me to get a tourist visa before my trip.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Won't you have to apply for Entry Clearance for the HSMP anyway?? Usually, you get the HSMP and then apply for EC - so I think you have the same problem - you need to apply for a visa and might not have enough time to do so.

Am I right (anyone)?

Thanks for your response Sakura. I have an entry clearance and an HSMP visa stamped on my passport and lived in the UK from september 2006 to March 2008 after which I moved to Norway. My HSMP visa and status is till valid until September of this year, hence the dilemma.

Why would you be refused entry because you have a work permit from Norway? HSMP doesn't prevent you from leaving the country whenever you like, and starting or stopping work in the UK.

Thanks goldfish!

That is a great load off my mind! I thought that it is possible for them to refuse entry if my circumstances have changed - in this case, my move to Norway and taking up a job there.
