I am new here hoping to get some clarification about the Marriage Visitor Visa and if it is applicable for my situation. I hope I post in the right category.
I am EU national living in UK. My fiance is US national. We have decided to look at the option to get married in UK due to the fact that we are planning to start our lives togethr in US., which means that I will have to move to him. It is the only option for us as children are involved.
I have researched the Web and settled on the Marriage Visitor Visa route but still find it a bit confused.
My questions are:
As far as I understand, since I am EU national and settled UK resident I do not need to apply for any kind of visa to get married here, including the mentioned visa, correct?
Since he is not planning to stay and get settled here in UK but we want to get married in UK, is the Marriage Visitor Visa for us?
After we get married here in UK, I am still planning to live and work here as normal for time being of settling everything else while applying to move to him in the US and waiting for the necessary processes in order to do that. While doing that, he just goes back to US and continues as normal ( as for the work and life in general) until I can join him in US to start our life together.
I am confused about the part where it says that the mentioned visa is for people that do not intend to live and settle in the UK after marriage. As mentioned above, after marriage I still plan to stay to live and work while doing all the ncessary paperwork to move to US, while he goes back.
Does this only apply to the person who is applying for it, ie the US citizen, since, as I understood ( and I am repeating myself here) I do not need any kind of visa for the purpose of getting married in UK?
Also, we would like children to be with us at the wedding in UK and then have a bit of family holiday for them before they all go back. Now, Mariage Visitor visa states that the dependants need to apply separately. As in, just other Visa like Visitor Visa or they have to apply for the same visa mentioned? I find this bit confusing as well.
A lot of questions and a lot of confusions but mainly due to the fact that we want to do this right and have a wedding without any issues.
