Meeting financial requirements - multiple sources

Post by gracielou10 » Tue Mar 19, 2019 4:38 pm

Hello,

My husband and I are looking to apply for a spouse visa. I am a British national he is a Chinese national and we are legally married in China, have the translated/notarised marriage certificate etc.

I am working in the UK while he is in China and it looks like the only way to apply is 'from outside the UK'. I have been looking at the appendix documents and am still not quite sure about the financial requirements.

Typically the sponsor (me) will need to be employed by the same company for a minimum of 6 months with an annual salary of at least £18,600 (we have no dependents). I am employed with a salary that meets that minimum amount, but at the time that we plan to make the application, I will only have been employed for 2 months. Prior to this, within the last 12 months I was employed in China in 7 of those months and the salary earned within that time is about £18,000. In terms of savings I have some cashing savings to the amount of about £2,000.

Given this history, with the multiple sources of income of current employment in the UK, previous employment overseas income and savings - does the fact that I have been working in my current UK company for less than 6 months matter? Is it the case that as long as we have ways to meet the £18,600 then that is fine?

Would appreciate any help you can give, otherwise it just means that we can only make the application after I have been employed for 6 months.

Many thanks,
Grace

Because you don’t have 12 months payslips, over the 2 jobs, you need to wait till you’re in current job for 6 months.

The fact the previous job didn’t meet the £18,600 threshold won’t help either.

I believe savings under £16,000 don’t count either.

Regarding the details of bank statement documentation

Post by gracielou10 » Fri Jun 07, 2019 3:01 pm

Hi there,

Apologies if this has been asked already, but I have a quite specific question surrounding the documents for submission. I am a British citizen and my partner is Chinese looking to apply for a spouse visa. I am applying for the 'employed less than 6 months' category so will be providing bank statements and other necessary evidence for the past 12 months while I was employed in China.

I can provide the necessary documentation but there are a couple of hiccups that make me unsure about submitting the application:

1. As a foreign citizen with a bank account in China, I can only get my bank statements either via online banking or in person in branch. The online banking does allow printing of bank statements with the official letterhead. However, the format of the account number is shown as 123XXXX89 for security reasons. If I supply a copy of the card and a document that shows the full details (account number, full name, passport no. etc.) that is from 18 months ago, will this be acceptable or is the missing account number on the statement a vital piece of information?
2. If I go for the option of making the application say for example on 10th June and make the appointment for 8th July I can go to China and print the bank statements in the branch. However, the printing date of the statements will be after the application is made (about 6th July). Is this something that will cause a refusal?

I guess I am asking whether, if the Entry Clearance Officer feels that some part of this is wrong or the info is missing, will they immediately refuse the application or will they give us a chance to explain/submit more documents? Do they even look at things at this kind of detail or are these 'discrepancies' acceptable?

I'd appreciate any advice or experience that can be given on this. Thank you in advance!

Many thanks,
Grace
