Guidance for Tier 2 ICT Visa

Post by faisalismail87 » Sun Jun 09, 2019 2:32 pm

Hello all,

I hope you guys are doing good and can help me out with my queries since I have no idea of how the visa works.

Here is my full background.

- I have signed the offer letter on 30th of May, 2019 in an MNC having one of their biggest office in London. My job location is in UAE.

- I will be starting my job in UAE in a week and I have been told that I may need to go to the UK office for a short period of time ( around a month) for getting initial training in July. It's an Engineering job with a good pay scale ( around $90,000 per annum).

I have heard that one needs to work in the company for a certain period of time before the company can apply for the ICT visa and since I would not have that experience in the company, I am confused ( overall I am an Experienced Engineer with masters from the US). Please let me know if I qualify for the ICT Visa, the cost associated with it and most importantly the processing time.

I hold an Indian Passport.

Thanks a lot in Advance

Tier 2 ICT (Intra company transfer) visa is applied when a company wants to transfer you to their UK based office. They need to pay you UK salary and you need to pay tax here in UK. You need to be working for the company for 12 months before they can apply for a T2 ICT visa.

As I understand from what you mentioned below, you may be required to come to UK for training purposes. I dont think you need a ICT visa for this short visit. Your company may opt for a UK Business visa for it.

Thank you so much for your reply.

Isn't the Business Visa for a personal visit and for the people attending conferences, meetings, and personal business purposes? Here, I am associated with a UK branch working for them and getting paid. Please do let me know.

I need to a clarification on this from the company but since the offer letter states USD as the currency of salary , I believe it should be USD. I think I have mentioned that my job location is actually Abu dhabhi and all the expats in Middle East deal in USD . I think

If your job location will continue to be UAE during your UK visit, it means you are not transferred to UK office. As I mentioned earlier, you need to be transferred to UK office and paid in GBP if you are supposed to be working here in UK. And to apply for ICT, you need to be working for the company for atleast 12 months.
