HSMP Dependent Visa

Post by ngmn » Tue Jul 01, 2008 3:48 pm

hi,

my husband is in UK on HSMP visa (got the visa under the old rules i.e before april). he left for UK in the last month - jun 14th .As of now there is no job offer. now i am planning to apply for dependent visa by showing 4400 (2800+1600) pounds for 3 months. will it be any problem because my husband has no job offer in UK during EC as well as in immigration?

Thanks in advance.

Given the fact that your partner is now in UK, I would personally suggest that you make an EC application as a dependent only when your husband becomes economically active in UK.

AFAIK, given the fact that he is now in UK, he will be required to provide (as a sponsor to your EC application) evidence of accommodation and income, alongwith evidence of maintenance funds.

Read section 9.6

It is 800 pounds for you (since you are in UK now) + either of the following:
a) 1600 pounds for each dependent (if you have been in UK for less than 12 months), or
b) 533 pounds for each dependent (if you have been in UK for more than 12 months).

See this webpage

ya i saw this link previously. thats why i got the question, it says:

the family member must show that the main applicant or the dependant has at least £1,600 to support the dependant as well as the funds needed to support the main applicant.

so do i need to show funds for me too? ie., 2800+1600 or jus 1600

When you read something, you *need to pay attention* to what is written. I have highlighted text in blue in my earlier post above - for you, read it carefully.
