Help - Requesting Return of Documents

Post by vivi862 » Mon Jun 10, 2019 1:28 pm

I have applied for a BRP (non-EU FP) through my husband (Irish, QP). I applied on 21/3 and got my COA with work on 06/04...and that's the last I've heard. According to the other timeline threads I thought my BRP and documents would be back by now and I'm getting worried but they haven't asked for any further information and I provided plenty of proof.

My problem is that I have two elderly parents back home and a new health concern has emerged so I need to be able to fly home this summer. I am a bit confused about requesting my documents back - the Home Office site says not to unless it's an emergency and that my application will be cancelled but the form asks if I want to withdraw my application, which I don't want to do.

So which is it? Some people on the timeline threads indicate that they requested the documents back with no problem. I just don't want to start over but need to be able to travel in case the situation at home gets worse.

Please send advice - and also whether the decision taking so long means I'm going to be denied.

You can request the documents back with this form if you need to travel, and just after you have selected the type of application you can specify that you do not want to withdraw your application.

In addition, to be able to get back into the UK, the HO recommends applying for a Family Permit overseas, which is free and usually treated in priority, and which might save you headaches with airlines.

Thanks! I'm here on a family permit now so if I have my passport, which contains the permit, I should be ok getting back in?

If your FP will still be valid, then you do not need to apply for a new one.

It's valid until August. Should I be worried that my application is taking so long? If people who applied at the same time as me to the date have heard that's probably not a good sign, right?
