Tier 2 (G) to ILR gap & biometrics enrollment

Post by ukvisat2 » Tue May 28, 2019 1:45 pm

I will complete my 5 years stay in the UK on 01/12/2019. I can apply for ILR within 28 days which will be after 03/11/2019. But my current tier 2 visa is valid until 14/09/2019. I will apply for its extension.

I read somewhere on this platform that in the new UKVCAS system one can delay their biometric enrollment 45 working days maximum. Will this have a negative impact on my future application as my attention is to vary my extension application to ILR?

Can I borrow some time by delaying the biometrics enrollment?

You will get to do the bio-metrics once you submit the application under this new system.
So in your case you can't even apply before the date you mention so how you going to delay?
So you need to go for extension first to be eligible for ILR. Hope this helps.

Thank you for your time.

Yes - I will first apply for tier 2 extension using UKVCAS standard service which I assume will process in 6-8 weeks time after enrolling biometrics. My question is about delaying the decision (enrolling biometrics with 45 working days) about my tier 2 extension application and then vary my application to ILR.

Does it make sense?

Yes, It does.

Then it also might raise complexity issues for a caseworker to make decision or might not. One my friend did the same thing, he was in Tier-2 extension and delayed his bio-metric to vary his ILR application. Now here is the vital point his was a 10 year ILR but your one is completion of 5 year on Tier-2.

I am no expert mate just sharing it from life experience. Hope things workout for you. Please do comeback and update this post so that others can benefit. Thanks.

Does it work for your friend? Did he get the ILR in the end?
