2 equivalent ways to apply for PR?

I'm a South African citizen married to my Italian husband. I have a residence card that will expire in 2021. In order to apply for British Citizenship I was advised to pursue the Permanent Residence application since we've been married for 9 years and I've been living in UK for over 10 years.

Looking at the application on the gov website I'm confused about the way to apply. It says that if the UEE person apply then the application can be done online, and the family can be added in the application.
Otherwise there is a 85 pages application that needs to be posted (which is similar to what I did to get the 5 years residence card I currently hold).

Am I right thinking that the two ways are pretty much the same in terms of what I will get in the end? I guess the difference is that we will have to pay 2x fees (£130) if we apply via my husband and he will get a PR as well.

Correct. There are two ways of applying for Permanent Residence under EU rules: either online or paper-based, and they are both conducive to the same document.

Correct, if what you mean is that, if you went for the paper-based, only you would apply.
Note that although it would be a silly thing, nothing is stopping you from both applying paper-based, and in that sense, there is no difference.

Also, note that if you go paper-based you do not have to print the 85 pages. You just need to read and follow the instructions and print only the sections that apply to you.

I felt that I had to ask because considering that you can do it online via the EU spouse I just couldn't imagine the reason why you would want to do it via post and I was afraid to have missed something
