Adequate maintenance for spouse visa

Post by Nick2019 » Fri Apr 26, 2019 5:15 pm

Thanks for starting this thread.

My fiancee is applying for a visa and, as the sponsor, I will go via the adequate maintenance route. I have a couple of questions and would be very grateful if anyone knows the answers.

The document Appendix FM1.7A Adequate Maintenance and Accommodation was published in 2015 and cites income support per week for a couple as £113.70 plus £66.33 due per child and £17.45 for 'family premium' totaling £197.48 for 2015. To qualify based on the 2015 document, income

1) Does anyone know what the current rates (presumably still based on income support rather than Universal credit?) that are being used?

2) xzaf asked whether the less strict criteria under Adequate Maintenance included being able to include salary from a job with less than six months duration and just a month or two pay slips. Does anyone know the answer to this one?

The required amount is based on income support a British family of the same size would receive, to calculate this you would use the below poster:

Upon further research, you do not need to show six months of wage slips under Adequate Maintenance, but it does help and looks good to show some 2/3 wage slips will suffice. (this is what I did)

hope it helps
