Irish Immigration and work as a spouse of an EU national

Post by Hvna » Tue Jun 25, 2019 10:21 am

Hello, I am an American citizen living in Romania and very soon to marry my Romanian fiancee. About a month after we get married, we will move to Ireland because she got accepted to a Masters program there. The duration of the program is one year.

I plan to apply for an Irish residence card to legally remain in Ireland for the duration of her study. I will need to work in order to support myself in Ireland. Will I be able to work while waiting for the decision on the residence permit? I have read some things about excersizing EU treaty rights and they are a little unclear about whether or not I'll be able to work in Ireland while waiting for the permit.

Thanks for any help you may have to offer.
