How long does it take to get a tourist visa appointment?

Hi All,

We are going on holiday in August and at the moment my wife still has her South African passport which will need a visa but she is also waiting for her british natralisation to come through.

We don't want to pay the visa fee if she is able to just do the ESTA with her new UK passport but then again, if she doesn't get her UK passport then we don't want to run out of time to get a US tourist visa!

She also currently has a US tourist visa in her South African passport that will run out in august midway through our holiday.

So, any idea how long it will take to get an appointment at the US consulate, apply for a B1/2 visa (or renew) and have it issued?

It takes a couple of months so hopefully the UK passport comes in time as you wouldn't get a US visa now unless you submitted the paperwork and flew to the Belfast embassy as their time frames are shorter than London.
