Time limit on entry to UK after Joint Partner visa issued?

Post by rossdisco » Tue Jul 08, 2008 5:04 am

My Colombian girlfriend has just received her UK Joint partner resident visa. However as the flights are ridiculous pirced at the moment, I need to make sure there is not a time limit on entry to the UK after the visa has been issued.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Many Thanks

What will happen when I make my application? wrote:If you have been granted entry clearance as a husband, wife, civil partner, or unmarried or same-sex partner, you will need to enter the UK within 28 days of the start date shown on your visa. You should tell the Entry Clearance Officer the exact date on which you will be travelling before your visa is issued. (You can ask for it to be post-dated for up to three months if you do not plan to travel immediately).

This is going to be a big problem, as the visa was issued on the 13th May. We received no information on this, though we did think that the entry had to be within 3 months. And we were never told or asked about when she was coming to the UK. As this has passed the 28 day limit already, what would be any advice regarding this.

Many Thanks for your help

Shortly before the end of your probationary two years Leave to Enter (LTE) period you will need to apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR). When you do this you will have to provide at least 20 letters and other documents addressed to you and your partner or spouse at the same address, as evidence that you have been living together during the past two years.
