De Facto Relationship with an Irish National, second unmarried partner application

Post by unnamed280 » Thu Jul 18, 2019 12:28 am

Hi all,

It feels like a long shot but I'm wondering if anyone might have come across this type of situation before. My non-EU partner and I have lived together for two and a half years and wish to apply for de facto visa permission in Ireland. I am an Irish citizen.

I previously applied as a sponsor for my ex-partner, however for various reasons we ended our relationship after we had sent all of our application documents. Ultimately the application was successful, although at that point it was no longer needed as the relationship had already ended. That was 3 years ago.

My question: is it possible to act as the sponsor for my current partner for a de facto visa or should I be looking instead at marriage if this route is not a possibility. All advice and experience is greatly appreciated.

The Sponsor may only sponsor one Applicant in any seven (7) year period.

I'm not sure about the marriage route as a quick google search didn't give me anything in concrete. However, if the purpose is to sponsor someone's visa, you would have a lot of explanation to do in the visa application.
