New Tier-4 visa rule

Good morning,

Just got valid information from my colleagues in UK that from next year, post study visa has been extended to 2 years which is an Excellent news.

However I was wondering if this applicable for students entering UK this year as well because The Department for Education (DfE) said the new immigration route would be available to international students “who have successfully completed a course in any subject at undergraduate level or higher at a higher education provider with a track record of compliance, and have tier 4 [visa] at the point the route is introduced,” starting from next year.

I have the same question man. I am going to the UK as a year 2 transfer student at Undergrad level, doing a bachelor in business administration, graduating in 2021
I also wanted to know whether the new rule would be applicable to us, since I have already been issued with a visa with a set timeline, and if wer are applicable , how do we go about applying for the post study visa

This is the link from the government website, it does not say much on it, new rules are suppose to come into effect in October, am not sure if this will be part of it or not, am guessing we have to wait to find out more about it

Ok so here is the deal.

PSW is a separte visa and students whose Tier-4 visa is valid until the scheme is introduced is eligible for 2 years PSW.

It is worth to note that this is primarily focused on STEM (Science, Engineering, Technology and Mathematics), so not all categories/course students will be eligible to apply. Though it is too early to speculate.

From the quote below you will see it mentioned any subject

"The new immigration route announced today (11 September 2019) will mean international graduates in any subject, including STEM, will be able to stay in the UK for two years to find work."

It seems clear that the intention is to benefit those *starting* courses from 2020. It is possible that guidance or even immigration rules could be drafted to include those who started earlier, but that doesn't seem to be the plan.

The gov.uk news story was very garbled, and appeared to be an attempt to disguise the return of PSW in a load of guff about genetic research and high-achieving STEM postgrads.
