American fiancé visa and entry

Hi there, firstly, my fiancé (american) is coming to england soon on a fiancés visa, we will be getting married and applying for FLR, is this the correct process? (I am a british citizen and we have adequate temporary lodging with my parents while she is unable to work before the wedding )

When she lands, must she go straight to the American embassy? Is there a cirtain procedure we must follow?

Unfortuantly the goverment doesnt seem to want to make it easy for us and tell us out right what to do! Any advice would be apreciated greatly.

Not to be confused with a Visit for marriage visa holder.

A Fiancé(e) visa holder may indeed apply for FLR(M) immediately after marriage (285). Subsequently, he may apply for SET(M) (288).

Before applying for SET(M), don't forget the KOL requirements and:

The UK Border Agency will deal with your application to stay permanently in the UK. Shortly before the end of your probationary two years Leave to Enter (LTE) period you will need to apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR). When you do this you will have to provide at least 20 letters and other documents addressed to you and your partner or spouse at the same address, as evidence that you have been living together during the past two years. Examples of documentation to provide are listed on the UK Border Agency website: Form SET (M) and guidance notes.

American Citizens Services consists of Special Consular Services, the Passport & Citizenship Unit and the Federal Benefits Unit. Each Unit has different opening hours.
