Questions

Post by Béllu » Tue Jul 15, 2008 10:16 pm

Hi. I had some questions on various subject because I intend to immigrate to the USA but need more information to forecast my budget. Consider that all my questions relate to a situation such as the following: small apartment (1 room, Spam, lounge and a bathroom) in the state of New York or states around.

1 - What is the cost of electricity per month (about)?

2 - What are the internet providers in the United States?

3 - Is there any cost to immigrate, papers and everything?

4 - What is the cost of water, per month?

5 - What percentage are taxes for someone at minimum wage?

6 - What are the cellular companies in the USA?

7- What is the rate of taxes on products we buy?

Thanks a lot for your help :D

Before thinking about all that stuff, you may want to find out if you actually have any chances of qualifying for a US visa.

The US is a huge country with a federal system. Cost of living and tax rates depend on where you live. Some states have their own income tax, others don't. In addition, the counties may impose additional taxes. Ditto for sales tax. You may want to look at the following wikipedia entries to get a better idea.

The cost of immigrating depends on which visa you are using (you didn't say) and whether or not you are using an immigration attorney.

Some of these questions can't really be answered - what 'products' are you referring to, when you want to know the tax rates? What states around New York (since the tax systems would differ)?

Other questions, I'm sure you can find out just by doing a search - ISPs, mobile phone companies, etc, can all be found online, just as in the UK or anywhere else.

Still other questions, such as cost of water or electricity per month...wouldn't that depend on monthly/quarterly usage?

As for how much it would cost to immigrate - depends on what immigration category you fall under and how much stuff you wish to relocate to the US. Do a search for shipping companies.
