Permanent Residence Card after Settled Status granted

Post by Natalia_1989 » Fri Oct 11, 2019 9:13 am

Hi Everyone,

I am in the UK for 7 years already.
(I wasn't sure if it's the wright place to ask regarding Permanent Residency card.)

I have just been granted Settle Status (10.10.2019) and I would like to apply for British Citizenship.
To do that with Settle Status I have to hold it for 12 months, therefore I would like to apply for PR next week. Hoping that they will process that application faster so I can apply for BC.

Is it possible that to swap Settle Status for PR?
In case of no deal Brexit do they automatically stop processing applications for PR?
I would like to submit documents for 6 years - would I be able to apply for BC if they will grant me PR?

Many thanks for your help! :):)

You can have both. One does not cancel the other, as they are issued under different legislations, one from EU law, one from UK law. Thus, they are not mutually exclusive.

That's what I tend to think. In any case, the soonest you do this the better. Since you are already eligible, is there any reason why have not applied yet?

As long as your PR letter confirms it was acquired year before the date you apply for BC (which looks like will be your case), then yes.
My posts express what I believe are the facts, based on the best of my knowledge, about the topics discussed in this forum. They do not constitute immigration advice.
