can i apply for UK indefinite leave in the US?

Post by starz » Mon Jul 21, 2008 4:27 pm

I am a US citizen, married to a British citizen. I applied for and received my Marriage Visa for the UK nearly two years ago in the US. Would like to know if anyone has ever tried to apply for indefinite leave for the UK from the US. If so, are there different rules, particularly in terms of the policy of application within 28 days of expiry?

ILR applications are to be made from within the UK. Is there a particular reason you can't apply from the UK?

i can apply in the uk, but i will be visiting the us around the time that it expires. i also know that the cost is lower in the us, and it's a lot easier. i called a couple of agencies in the us that told me i would be able to do so, but i'm still a bit weary of it. wondering if anyone knows for sure, or has gone through the process themselves.
