Hello,
I am about to apply for my 2 y.o. daughter's first UK passport as a newly registered British citizen. I noticed that the UK passport office asks to provide for any existing valid or expired (but not cancelled) passports of foreign countries (in case of dual citizenship).
She was born in the UK and all of her UK legal documents (birth certificate, citizenship, etc) mention her full name including her middle name. Her foreign passport unfortunately omits her middle name because when we registered her at her foreign country, to get a passport from there, we missed entering her middle name into the system and we probably naively thought that this is not a serious thing.
I now fear that the UK passport office might reject her passport application because of this middle name omission in the other passport.
Is that a realistic fear? If so what is the suggested thing to do? Cancel (destroy and report lost) the foreign passport maybe so that I do not have to send it? If I try to amend her name by adding her middle name at the foreign country, I have heard that it is a very complicated process that has to go through a court decision.
Any advice much appreciated!
Thank you!
