Application for naturalisation

Post by Boots » Tue Oct 29, 2019 12:17 pm

Hi, I need some help as i am about to apply for British naturalisation soon.
I applied last year Feb 2018 for British citizenship and the application was refused due to good character requirement which was explained that my application was made early and i had to reapply in Oct 2019. I lived with my long time partner and we have 2 children and they all are British citizens but in Aug this year my partner took both children and moved out due to domestic abuse. She did not get police involved but council, benefit offices are aware of our situation. I want to know now that i have to reapply do i have to declare this? Will this affect my application?
I am really worried and i would be grateful if someone could help.

You should review the official guidance on "Good Character".

If you have not been convicted, given court orders, cautions or warnings then there is nothing to disclose.
Presumably the local council is concerned about child welfare and entitlements.

Thank you for the reply. No i did not have any involvement with the police not even got questioned about it, but I'm worried if I should mentioned it or not.

You are free to disclose anything you wish, however, you need to ensure that you comply with all requirements set by the Home Office.
Anything additional may or may not be taken into consideration - unlikely anyone here can give you re-assurance on the outcome.
