Passport required immediately

Post by Mlatha » Fri Jul 25, 2008 12:58 pm

Hi,

I have applied for HSMP dependent visa with my husbands HSMP application on June18th.
When we called up yesterday they said now they are processing applications which are made before June 10th, but i need to go back to India immediately.
can i send urgent treatment request to Home office or only my husband has to send it?
and what are the details we need to send in that mail?

How many days it will take to get my passport?

Thanks!!

I don't think there is a provision of urgent treatment of HSMP / Tier 1 / dependent applications per se. All you can do is request for it - and you will have to provide evidence of why any such exceptional consideration should be given to your application.

If you filled a separate dependent form, you should be the one writing the letter. But provide adequate details of the main applicant (name, dob, nationality etc.) in the letter so they can trace your application in the system.

Having said this, please note that UKBA can choose to ignore your request alltogether - it depends on your circumstances and evidence you provide).

The only other alternative is to withdraw your dependent application. Your passport will be returned to you enabling you to travel to your home country. Once your husband is issued with a new leave to remain, you can then apply for leave to enter (entry clearance) from your home country and return to UK.

Thank you so much for your information.

one small doubt i have made my application with my husband application.
i just need only my passport...will they send only my passport and process my husbands application?
or they send back both of us applications? because he has mentioned dependents details in his application.
Please let me know.

Thanks!

In your letter make it clear that you wish to withdraw only the dependent application and that the main applicant's application should be processed as normal.

Whether dependent and main applicant applied together or separately should not matter. In my opinion, what matters is whether a separate dependent application form (duly signed) was submitted or not. If it was, then I believe only the dependent can request for a withdrawal (and not someone else, on dependent's behalf). If the dependent has not filled up a separate application form, then the main applicant can request for withdrawal of dependent application.

If in doubt, call up UKBA and check.
